“Message From the Sun” Quilt

The theme challenge for the Portland Modern Quilt Guild’s Improv Group in August was sun/sunshine. I wasn’t really sure where this was headed but wanted to work in surface design and Tyvek. The pile of materials, pictured above, shows the materials with which I started. After sewing and melting and sewing, I created a Message From The Sun quilt.

Tyvek sewn to hand dyed and painted fabric, then melted
Painted melted Tyvek sewn to piece of fabric with Tyvek
Torn hand-dyed and painted fabric strips sewn onto base fabric
Painted and dyed fabric cut into circle and sewn onto black fabric
