Candy Christmas

Spellbinders and Stamperia Collaboration

Full disclosure, I am an affiliate with Spellbinders and they provided the etched dies for the cards I created. All of the products used in conjunction with the dies were purchased by me. If you click on a link to Spellbinders or Scrapbook.com, I receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. This enables me to continue to provide tutorials and design ideas free of charge. Thank you.

Gingerbread House and Sweet Borders

A little bit of sparkle makes the gingerbread house extra special. Running metallic and glitter cardstock through the die cutting machine can create a luxe look with little effort. By using pop-up die cutting glitter foam, you can achieve sparkle and dimension at the same time. One thing to keep in mind when using the mirror silver or gold paper is that it will take an impression of any scratches on your die-cutting plates. Place an embellishment or sentiment over any divots and no one will be the wiser! The glitter cardstock is more forgiving and doesn’t show any stray marks.

Rice Paper Background

In addition to the gorgeous glittery effects of the cardstocks shown in the cards pictured above, you can use other specialty papers too. Stamperia makes a special rice paper glue, which I used to attach the Candy Christmas rice paper to cardstock. I then used a die to cut out the background and attach it to a standard 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card. This is shown on the following two cards.

Preprinted Paper, Washi, and Rub-ons

Stamperia has a wonderful selection of papers and ephemera to add extra pizazz to a project. I used a variety of items listed below to enhance all of the cards pictured above. It is an easy way to add a sentiment or a colorful embellishment without having to do a lot of work!

Candy Christmas Dies Used for Halloween Card

The last card was made using the Sweet Borders die to make a slime-like effect as the background. The Gingerbread House die set was used with bright green, orange, and purple to create a fun Halloween house. It is always a bonus when you can create alternative ideas from the original intention. I think this little house is adorable!

Alternate Use of Gingerbread House Die

Lastly, the Gingerbread House die set was used to create a cute little felt ornament. To give it a little bit of stability, there is a tiny bit of stuffing inbetween the front and back of the house. Before gluing the two sides together, I tucked a bit of baker’s twine in the top to create a hanging cord. Glue that is formulated for fabric is usually best, but good old Elmer’s school glue works as well.
