Yesterday’s post was about using one stamped image, and one die on several cards. There was a leftover stamped and watercolored image. This piece is what makes the butterflies on this card. The post, with three cards, is here. Cutting up mixed media pieces gives a new life to the work.

The butterflies are die-cut from a piece of watercolor paper after all of the mixed-media techniques dried. This is the process I used to create the panel: Stamp and heat emboss with the Butterfly Garden stamp set, using white ink and powder. Then mist the paper with water. Sprinkle Two-Tone powder, which is not diluted, on top. After pushing the paint around, I added the deep purple Glimmer Ink. The butterflies are arranged on a slimline panel cut with a Pinkfresh Studio die. Prior to adhering the butterflies with foam tape, I stamped the same Butterfly Garden stamp with Altenew’s Hydrangea ink and distressed the edges. I also splattered the panel with Dr. Ph Martin’s Bleedproof white ink. The entire panel is popped off the slimline card based with foam tape.

This bow adds another dimension and texture to the card. I tucked a little butterfly under the middle loop just for fun. The idea to add the bow came from the challenge at Cupcake Inspirations. As I live in the United States, postage to mail this type of card is always a consideration. In this case, it will be hand delivered.

The last step is to add the heat embossed senitment and sequins. The picture above shows the card without sequins. I decided it needed a little sparkle so I added them. Do you have a preference for the card with or without sequins?
