Paper Collage
Collage has long been a part of my art practice. It has evolved over the years. This is partly due to taking classes and partly due to style changes over the years.

Online Classes
This past winter, I took a free class from Catherine Rains called Collage Kickstart. The two photos above are from this online workshop. It was a really helpful experience. So much so that I enrolled in her paid class, Collage Joy! Cat’s encouraging spirit makes for a wonderful introduction to collage, but it is also a fantastic boost for those who’ve previously worked with collage principles.

Fabric Collage
I’ve been fortunate to take classes with many collage artists who have honed their skills to successfully work with fabric to create art quilts. Most have been in-person classes, and a few have been online. Collage is a broad category and covers many approaches to this art form.

Explorations in Color
Some of the fun working with collage materials comes from creating original papers or fabrics with which to work. These quilts all have at least some hand-painted or screen-printed motifs incorporated in the collage.

The work posted here is a small peek into art created this year. It has been a great salve to work with my hands, showing what is in my heart.
